Spurs being built on solid foundations

Since the start of the 2015/16 season we have played 44 Premier League games and lost six of them. In that time we have conceded just 38 goals, this the club who has conceded more goals than any other Premier League side. Of course we are one of only a handful of ever-present teams.

Our defence has always been porous, we have usually cracked under pressure as Sir Alex Ferguson told his Manchester United players and we would throw away games we have in the bag. This is the first team we have a defence and more importantly a system that gives us the defensive stability to give ourselves a chance of winning more games.

It is heartbreaking for forwards to score goals only to see a defence leak them. Pochettino has installed a mentality we haven't seen at Tottenham since probably the 60's and we are still at the beginning of our journey. The challenge is to maintain this mentality and the belief in ourselves for the next 10 years, not just this season.

Th players will need to deliver and then with the increased financial power a new stadium brings there is no reason why Pochettino would not still be here. It is a learning journey, the Champions League is a learning curve, title challenges are a learning curve for us. last season our Manchester City 'test' at White Hart Lane ended with us thumping them, this season will be a sterner test, but not one we should fear.

It's a game to look forward to with anticipation.
