Marseille waiting for Spurs to decide what to do about N'Jie

TRANSFER TALK

Clinton-Njie-2017

Has Tottenham started adopting the Barcelona and Real Madrid approach to transfers?

At both of those clubs, when they sell a player they include a two-year buyback clause in any deal, it is why we struggle to buy players from them, they insist upon it. The idea is that instead of loaning out a player, they sell him and have a set fee for each year that they can buy the player back at.

Tottenham, it seems, have arranged the same deal with Clinton N'Jie when he left the club. Marseille coach Rudi Garcia has spoken about the situation to the French media who pressed him on the subject.

“I think Tottenham have a new option to bring him back to the club, and the date for that hasn’t passed yet. Until we know what they want to do with him, we can’t say anything.
“We can still logically think that he will be with us next season, that he’ll be under contract next season with Olympique de Marseille.”

We loaned him out with a purchase option at an agreed fee, but it seems we have first refusal over his future. He has pace but didn't seem to have much else. My abiding memories of him are cutting in from the left to take a shot, which missed the corner flag and crossing from the right for us to score a goal.
